Businesses today
must continuously adapt to changing conditions.
As a result, it is frequently necessary to bring
about a great deal of change in a very short
period of time. Gorilla Data Gear specializes in
jumping through just these types of flaming
hoops. Some examples follow:
A web hosting
company in the Los Angeles area was closing a
location. Somehow, the impending date to vacate
their 10nth floor location was lost in the many
necessary requirements of their move. Suddenly,
they recognized that they had less than four
days to get their hosting facility completely
removed from the premises. Failure to do so
would result in substantial penalty fees from
their lessor. An endless array of racks,
detailed cable management, hundreds of servers,
workstations and networking equipment needed to
be dismantled, inventoried and removed from the
tenth floor of an executive type office
building. To make matters worse, no equipment
could be removed during normal business hours.
Gorilla Data Gear utilized technicians,
electricians and all necessary moving personnel
to make the removal and move happen. Working
only after hours, frequently into early AM
hours, the job was complete and on time. The
entire space was delivered as scheduled to the
lessor, clean and empty, and no penalties were
incurred by our client.
A successful and
growing financial institution in California has
a policy of performing a regular technology
refresh schedule in order to maintain their
level of competitive edge. In many cases, the
gear that is being removed and replaced still
has years of good service delivery remaining.
Gorilla Data Gear works with upper management,
and the IT Services group, to identify and label
computers, laptops and other components that are
to be replaced and that their employees would be
interested in owning. We publicize and staff
employee purchase days through which the
employees have an opportunity to purchase the
identified products. These events bond employees
to the company while returning a portion of the
company’s capital investment in cash-purchased
and outdated components. The employees love the
events and the opportunity to gain an added
benefit from the company. The company gets a
partial return on their old technology
investment while implementing their newer and
more effective solutions.
Because we have
occasion to inventory and test a wide variety of
communications equipment, we can often offer our
clients an alternative source of components for
their use. We recently had one such request from
an entrepreneur who was about to open a new
office on a very limited budget. Gorilla Data
Gear was able to immediately provide fifteen
workstations, a central server, a data switch, a
router with firewall and a telephone system, all
at a small fraction of what he might otherwise
have had to spend. We warranted all of the
equipment that we provided to him, together with
a contact to install all of his gear. We even
arranged for a company to provide and install
his office furniture and cubicles. Quickly,
easily and economically, Gorilla Data Gear had
helped him achieve some of the essential steps
to implement his new business.
